#1 John Meynard was a man with many ideas about how the government should work. He was a British economist just after the Second World War had ended.

#2 John Keynes believed in an economy were the government would help businesses and intervene but at the same time not control the businesses.

#3 I agree with his philosophy because I look at what happened to the US economy and how they did not control their banks. This has caused major problems through US and also throughout the world. This problem could have been prevented through a style of government that Keynes came up with.

#4 Yes because of all the problems countries are having because they are not intervening in their countries businesses. The government does not have enough control.

Know I will write a five paragraph about the various things that Keynes believed in. I will cover three points in this essay. Here are my topics first what type of economy did he make and which country uses it today. Second what his beliefs were on how government business. Last how he believes the economy should work.

Keynes kind has made a certain economy out of his ideas. The economy he made is known today as a mixed economy. This economy is supposed to be half owned by the government and half owned by the private sector. Canada is one country in the world that has a mixed economy. We can really attribute are economy to Keynes ideas.

The second thing is what did he believe a business should be run. He believed in some government control over a business. The way he believed the government could control a business but not own a business was through money regulations. This would allow thereto be a healthy private sector but at the same time allow the government to have the control they needed to keep the business up and running and producing for the citizens needs. This is an important part of Canada’s and any other country that uses a mixed economy.

The last thing I will speak on is what John Keynes thought the government should control the economy. Keynes believed that the government should control the ups and downs of the economy through taxes. To get rid of inflation the government should raise taxes so they can fund businesses to and keep the businesses so that there would still be jobs and ways to make money and obtain the goods and services the people need. To me this works well. Canada seems to have pulled it’s self through economic hard time easier than the US’s government have been able to do for there economy.

To me John Meynard Keynes is very important. He pretty much defined my home country Canada’s government and economy. Canada’s economy has worked well according to me. I think it’s a hybrid economy.

I just find hockey an exciting sport to watch but I would rather play soccer. The main reason I enjoy playing the game soccer so much is becuase that's the sport I am good at. I love the joy I get when I score a goal or my team wins a game. I love to play soccer. These are my favorite sports.

Standard of living and Quility of Life Paragraph

In this paragraph I will touch up on what the difference is between standard of living and quality of life. Is there even a difference between standard of living and quality of life? I say yes. The reason is when I read my textbook it gave a bunch of ideas on the difference between standard of living and quality of life. I will now take the time to write about a few of these ideas. In the textbook it says that standard of living is only one aspect of the quality of life. Standard of living is mainly a measure of how your needs are being taken care of. The needs include quality and availability of food, quality and Quantity of water, and pretty much the quality and quantity of any other good needed by people to survive comfortably. Standard of living just focuses on the materials of life. In the quality of life there is much more than just materials. Quality of life has things that standard of living does not focus on. These things are clean environment; personal safety, political rights, and right to earn a living using traditional means these are my few examples. Some more could be rights for freedom of religion, speech, and culture. An example of such a quality of life not focused on in the standard of living is that the Francophone’s in Alberta get schools that teach their native language French. This raises their standard of living through means other than the standard of living. Even though there is difference between quality of life and standard of living they still need each other. Quality of life is not complete without the standard of living and material things. I am no downing standard of living; I’m just saying that there is more to having a good life than material things can offer. This is my thought on the difference between the Quality of life and the standard of living.

Oil development's impact on the world

Today I am writing on the three questions given to me through my social textbook. The first Question asks me to research and write about an oil spill or disaster in Alberta. The big impact this has had on the environment is the birds like ducks its killing in one day five hundred ducks died because they landed on an oil filled lake. This is one of many natural disasters caused in Alberta by the oil sands and the gathering of oil from them. Alberta’s environment concerns have not been approved to much by the world because we harvest the oil and other natural resources in dirty but quick and cheap way. We are thought to not try and go along with the world and try to make the world cleaner. This may be true, we have not signed certain agreement to make our environment cleaner. The world, especially the USA, look at us as the country that needs to show poorer countries how the harvest natural resources and still keep our environment clean and nice to live in. We as Canadians and Albertans’ are failing to do this. This is why the world looks done on our means to do stuff like harvest oil.

The next question asks me to write questions that I think I would ask when talking about how conserving the environment will effect the environment. I will focus on preserving the environment rather than exploiting it as much as possible. Question #1 Should we cut back on how many natural resources we exploit? Questions #2 How will preserving natural resources in order to improve the environment effect our economy? Question #3 Will it cause our taxes to go up? Question #4 Are people willing to pay extra money to keep the environment cleaner? Question #5 Are people willing to give up traditional ways to make money and live to clean our planet? Question #6 Are there new ways to not use thing natural gas? Question #7 What will this cause in the short term? Question #8 How will this help us in the log term? Question #9 Who will benefit from preserving the earths natural resources? Question #10 How do we live with less resources? Here are my ten Questions. These questions to me get to the point and ask for a solution to be found. There are many things that need to be thought of when it comes to cutting back on natural resources. To me the biggest thing is that we aren’t willing to give up our traditional and easy ways of doing things. If we want to save resources we need to discard some traditional ways of doing things. This is my answer to Question #2.

Knowledge Economy in Canada

I will be writing about what a knowledge economy is and what Canada does knowledge economy wise. There are some big things being predicted to occur in Canada because of this knowledge economy. Through this essay I will write the facts and my opinion on these facts.

First the definition of a knowledge economy is the use of knowledge to produce economic benefits. This economic idea became popular in New Zealand in the 1990's. They began using high tech stuff to make the economy better. New Zealand used there education and research institutions to build up and help out there economy. This is really trying to make the most of knowledge and education.

Canada is starting to get to this level. There is a paper predicting that Canada will lose up to two million jobs. They are predicting that an additional 2.4 million knowledge workers and 3.3 million manufacturing production employees will be affected by the competition caused by the knowledge economy. This is a major loss for the jobs for Canadians in are own country Canada.

There are also predictions that things are going to be OK for the economy and for jobs for Canadians. For the most there is an agreement that in the long run Canadians will benefit highly from the knowledge economy. There is a prediction that 29 % of the Canadian employees will benefit immediately. To me though this is not enough there still are to many people who are losing from this though.

I personally don't think this is a good thing for my generation but for my generations kids it will be great. I don't like how many fobs may be made unavailable to me. I personally will look down on the knowledge economy.

Online Questions on Dangerous Jobs

I am trying to become a meteorologist when I get older. I find how the weather changes so fast, it very exciting to me. I like trying to predict the way the weather will pan out. It is very hard to because it changes so much. If i cant get into weather I will try something along the lines of hydrology or plants. This science that has to do with the natural world just interests me.

Jobs I would least like to do are things like along the line of teaching or something that involves trying to help explain to people or trying to solve other peoples problems. I also would not want to own my own business.

The World Bank and the International Monetary Fund

I am writing on the World Bank and Monetary Fund. The purpose of these organizations are to help fund give financial assistance to countries that need the assistance. The world bank helps loan money to countries to help these countries make there health system and education system better. These countries usually really are in need of a loan, they usually need the money to help the people in the country to achieve the basic needs of life.
The International Monetary Fund is there to help a country build up its economy by trying to secure financial stability, facilitate international trade, promote high employment, and reduce poverty. This International Monetary Fund helps a country more through trying to create a better economy and help the country make there own money. This organization does not meet the immediate problems as fast as the World Bank does but in the long run they do more in a less expensive way that the World Bank does

Next I will talk about if these countries are actually benefiting the countries they say they are helping. In the report Assessing World Bank Support for Trade they concluded that the World bank spent $38 billion financing trade programs since 1986. They concluded this helped to open markets but had not been effective in increasing exports and growth reducing poverty. The organization is causing inflation or higher interest rates.
The International Monetary Fund had been charge with accusations of supporting capitalist military dictatorships that are supportive to European and American corporations. They are also said to be creating higher government taxes to pay off government debt or cutting social programs. This contradicts what they are there for. They are there to improve the government social programs to help for fill the basic needs of the people. Does this make them just like another government sucking money from people. They also are said to be funding evil governments and there armies to allow them to take more control of the people.

There are a lot of skeletons in these organizations closets. I am personally wondering how much help these organizations are actually giving to these countries that are in poverty. I wonder if there making the rich richer and the poor poorer.

Paper on The Euroepean Unoin and what affects it has on the World

The European Union is a large agreement make pay most of the countries in Europe. This association is responsible for 20% of the worlds imports and exports while it only has 7% of the worlds population. This is amassing there is tonnes of stuff sold and bought by a substantially lower amount of people. This Union involves 25 countries all of these countries have at least 50% of there countries trade in the EU. These countries are definitely majorly affected by the European Union. The European Union has brought the most prosperous times even seen in Europe. It brought Europe out of there major debt made by the second world war. Tonnes of money and goods are passed around the world by this Union. On the other side this Union has a lot of hard to find bad things it does to. According to sources the EU is forced the people of east Europe the have to come west and seek better fobs and more money. The EU is sucking precious talent away from the east thus causing lack of people able to do certain jobs in the east this. There is to many people in the west able to jobs. The west is getting swamped people trying to get skilled jobs.

I personally think to fix these problems they need to get rid of some of those eastern countries they are just hurting themselves and everyone else. They need to try and keep there own skilled workers and build there own economy this would be the best thing for the smaller east economies.

I do not believe it would be the best thing for North America. We do not need a North American trade union its useless. I personally think that what were doing right now is enough. The economy may not be booming right now but for the most part we have enough money. I also think that a North American Union would give USA a tighter grip over North America. I think that they already have enough of a grip over North America. Also I think that more and more of the talented workers from Canada would go to USA and work there.

These are my thought on the European union and other questions associated with. Personal I don't believe it to be a great thing. It might be good for the major counties but the lower ones get hurt by it more than they gain.

The Zapatistas

The Zapatistas have found different means to achieve the solving of there problems. They have found ways to get the government to try and change there lives for the better. In the past the Chiapas who are know represented by the Zapatistas were starving to death because when the Spanish people came 500 years ago they pushed the Chiapas people up into the mountains were the land is very bad for growing crops. the crops these crops were supposed to sustain there lives but they could not crow enough food so lots of people starved to death. The Chiapas people need to do something about this. There whole people were going extinct because they did not have enough food. They created the Zapatistas, this group than in 1994 declared war on the government of Mexico. The Zapatistas took over many Mexican city but then suddenly they decide to be peaceful this was surprising thing for many people. The reason they became peaceful was because they believed they could get people to see there problems through globalization. The reason they wanted people to see there problems is because they believed that people would see how bad that the Chiapas were being treated and the people would pressure the Mexican government to do something to fix there problems. This seems to have worked for the Chiapas. Know the government is funding and building health care centers, Schools, and roads. The government is also distributing food to the Chiapas people. There peaceful approach to this has helped them tonnes.

Oka Crisis

Today I will write on the Oka crisis. I will write about the chain of events that occurred and caused the many problems for Canada. This was all caused by a proposal to build a golf course on Mohawk sacred land. This proved to be a problem that effected the whole country. The three mistakes that I will bring to attention are first the lack of consulting on the part of the town of Oka, second the police meeting the Mohawk with violence, and third the lack of corporation by Canada's government.

This all started in March of 1990. The reason it began was because there was a golf course planned to be built on Mohawk sacred land. The Mohawk decided to arm themselves and make a road block to prohibit access to there sacred land. The first big reason that caused this was the town of Oka not consulting the Mohawk when making pans to build the golf course. This lack of involvement caused the Mohawk to have to take matters into there own hands they stopped the people from being able to build the Golf course. This was the major mistake that set violence into play.

The next mistake was made by the police they sent in a swat team to clear out the blockade. The problem with this was that they met violence with violence. This mistake cost Corporal Marcel Lemay his life. The police could have found out what the problem was and negotiate with the Mohawk people. This was a very costly mistake they should have thought before they shot.

The last mistake caused violence by the whole Canadian first nation population. The reason for this was because Canada sent the army in to control the Mohawk blockade. This looked bad and caused the first nations of Canada to see how unfair it was for them. They came together and supported the Mohawk. The native people burned bridges made there own blockades, and protested with there fellow first nation Mohawks. All the government had to do was to treat the people natives in the Oka crisis fair and negotiate with them. This could have prevented all three of these problems.

I really believe these problems could have been avoided. people could have talked and gotten a compromise. The native poeple needed the government to pay atention to them and nogotiate with them. Since the government did not do this they had to get the governments attention through violence. I'm not saying that I think what the Mohawk did was good but I think it worked for them.

Should Whales be Realeased?

I think whales should because they would get killed in the wild. The whales don't have to have trainers right down at the water with them. they can just be taken care of by sea world or any other place that these whales are at.whales kill its just in there blood, there wild animals no one can change that. I think its unfair to make these whales that have lived in captivity all there lives and make these whales live in the dangerous world. this is why I think they should be kept in captivity but they don't have to have a trainer down at the water with them.

Similarities of the Australian Natives and the Canadan Natives

In this Blog I will write a paragraph on what the similarities are of the problems caused by Britain on Canadian Natives and the Australian Natives. In both these cases Britain went into these civilizations took control and harvested wealth from each countries natural resources. In both cases Britain tried to defend themselves by saying that they were there to try and civilize each native group. This civilizing process ended up causing assimilation of much of the language and culture for both native groups. In both of these Aboriginal cases there was great amount of sickness. This in both stories took out half of the population of the Native people. Both countries that were harmed were harmed mainly by the smallpox virus. Britain took advantage of the people in both cases they would trick them into signing unfair treaties and trick them into bad and at times life threatening situations. When it was all said and done both of these countries had there culture destroyed and there history and languages mostly forgotten. In both cases there benefits. Each native group obtained new products that would overall make there life easier and allow them to do more things.

Camparing British Influence on Canada and India

Both Canada and India was colonized by Britain in the 1600's these two situations had many similarities but when you look close they have many differences. The first key similarity is in each case Britain tried to assimilate the native population. The reason for this is that they thought that the different ways of each people were uncivilized. The British people thought they were doing these natives a favor teaching them how to be civilize but in fact they were just destroying these people's culture. The second similarity was that in both cases the British people thought they could claim the land for there King and Queen and and take anything they wanted. They just look at each place as unowned land that was there's for the taking and exploiting. The next similarity was that both lands had people on them before Britain claimed the. Both these people had a system that they had created and these systems seemed to work for both groups. They both did not need Britain's help but they both excepted the beautiful products that Britain brought to there countries. With these similarities there are many differences. With the first similarity the people of India did not allow themselves to assimilate as easily. They stood up for there rights and culture. The second similarities difference is that the British people could not take the land in India as easily as they did in Canada. They would have had harder battles to get the Land in India. India had already known European for centuries so they had knowledge that Britain was trying to assimilate there life style and culture. This knowledge that the people of India had and the Native people of Canada did not have was the knowledge of owning land.

Capitalism

Capitalism involves people that become very rich and people that are very poor. It is an economic system portrayed well in the American system. I do not like some of these things about this economic system. First I don't like how socially insecure it is. Second it has unaffordable health care. Last it does not keep people from getting to powerful or to poor. I will touch on these three points.

In this system of economics you can be working and making good wages one day and be out of work on the street the next. It is very hard to feel comfortable in this situation and when you do that is when it falls apart and your out of work and pay. In this economy you will have to rely on luck more than I feel comfortable doing. The cause of this social insecure situation is that there is no government or other sources to back you up and help secure you and help you maintain work.

The second thing is that you don't pay taxes to help save for those rough times you may experience in the future. This may sound good but to many times I here that people in countries like USA have accidents and have to go to a hospital. during there stay at the hospital they may easily go bankrupt if there there for extended periods of time. I know this by experience, a couple of years ago my brother broke his leg and had to stay at the hospital for six weeks. Through previous paid taxes our family could make it through money wise. If we lived in the USA we might not have been able to pay for those six weeks in the hospital.

The third and last thing is that in this economy people can get really rich and others are extremely poor. It seems to me that there is more poor people than rich people. There is a lot of people living in poverty usually because they cant get a good job and also try and keep that job for extended periods of time. there just to many people that don't have homes and lives because some people get all the money and these people get none. The really rich people have so much money that they don't know what to do with it.

In conclusion I mainly focused on the negative aspects of a capitalistic country. There are good things to. This can be said of any style of economics. The main problem with this economy is that it does not allow to be secure and safe money wise as easily as other economies.

The First International Trade Route The "Silk Road"

The Silk road is the oldest trade route known to us at this point in time.It connected Europe to Asia and also went into parts of Northern Africa. On this route people could obtain rare spices, rare food, art master pieces, different culture and ideas. The three most important things to me were the exchange culture, knowledge, and the products exchanged.I believe these were very important to the growth of the ancient east. I will begin to write about these important aspects.

Upon reading about the culture passed around on the silk road I learned that it changed that it changed how people thought dressed and even religion began to change and be questioned. It truly was a smaller version of how culture is being passed around by globalization today. There seems to be culture that was passed on the silk road still affecting different races. One example is music, it changed a lot because of the silk road. All the classical music today has many different aspects that were picked up through the silk road.

I believe knowledge that was passed around is the most important thing that was passed throughout the silk road. I know that the Muslims passed ideas of astronomy to the peoples of Europe. The silk road was not just a trade involving important products it involved the trade of knowledge. People that traded on the silk road talked to other people and took there ideas and combined them with theirs. This helped people make discoveries and also made people curious to find new things out. People also saw the different climate and conditions and started studying and looking for answers.

The silk road passed many important products around. If you look at the name "Silk Road" its obvious that silk was a very important product along this primitive trade route. Silk went from east side of the silk road (China) to the west side (Western Europe). These products helped improve qualities of life mostly for the class of the nobility. The trading allowed people to use and enjoy things that they would not be able to use if the silk road was not there. These different products definitely changed how people lived and how people spent there time.

These are the three things I think changed Europe and Asia the most. The silk road did a lot for the world during its time. I truly believe it pushed the world to develop into what it is today. The silk road still affects us today because it set the basic rules of globalization. I now that globalization is affecting us all the time.

The War Torn Country SUDAN

The country Sudan has had many problems throughout history. These problems all began when Britain gave the country independence. When Britain and Egypt gave Sudan independence they took away the separation of the Arabic people and African people. This caused these to races to suddenly deal with each other. To make matters worse the Arabic people got full control of the government. This was followed by laws that said everyone has to be Muslim. This caused the African people to fight against the Arabic people. Britain and Egypt are one cause of this big problem. When they left the country they did not get all parts of the country involved the government. They just gave the Muslim people control. Also these different groups were in separate side of the country and then suddenly the people were forced to work together and also deal with each other. If Britain and Egypt would have either separated the country into two or slowly eased these to peoples together. To help stop this problem they could set up two countries or just make sure everyone has a representative in the government.

What is Potlatch?

Potlatch is an activity in which people have a party to celebrate a special occasion. During the party the host family proceeds to give away most of there stuff this can lead to a family having next to nothing by the time the party is done. This is not a loss they regain stuff as they go to another persons party. This art is very helpful at making everyone equal, no poor, no rich. This art was developed by the Aboriginals of the west coast. This practice was a large part of there culture and it still is for the most part. For over a hundred years it was made illegal to practice Potlatch. Now you can practice it all you want but in my daily life I don't see it. I think the reason is that the world is now very selfish and the art of the Potlatch is all selfless. You have to be willing not to be rich but at the same time you wont be poor but for the most part people just want to as rich as they can. We obviously are not near as good at sharing as the Aboriginal people of the Canada west coast.

Explore The Issues Question 1 on Page 90

The people of Lubicon deserve to be treated by the government equal to anyone else. The government not even talking to them is making them not be treated equal. this act is clearly violated by the government of canada.

Article 3 discuses that these people freely have the right to determine there political status. When we decided to take natives out of there homes. This was not letting those kids choose if they wanted to leave home for school or not. This would contribute to forcing them into political statuses.

At Cape york the native people have been having to assimilate to the new culture. They are being prevented from governing themselves in there own local situation. This article 4 is not being kept well by government officials.

The Lubicon Land Claims

The Lubicon has had lots of trouble negotiating land right with the people for just over 70 years. The Lubicon have been fighting the government for along time. the reason for this is that the Lubicon's traditional land is being destroyed by the oil companies. I will discus three different issues in this situation. First I will discus what affect this has on these people socially. I will tell of how the government has approached this situation through history and last I will discus What the people of the Lubicon are doing to change laws and free up there land.

Before this problem aroused for the Lubicon people they did not have many troubles. All they did was live traditionally of the land. By the 80 this changed. The damage done on the environment was so bad that game for hunting was scarce. Trappers say that the price of animals dropped from $5000 to $400 Many of the people by the 80's had to switch from tradition hunting to the new way of life in witch they were not ready for. this causes many of them to need social assistance.

The government have sat back and prity much have not wanted to get to involved in this mess. I countless situations the government has been just about to make a land treaty and failed to complete it. This occurred in 1988, the government had picked an area of land in witch they said was a now drill zone meaning they could not use that land for oil pr any other commercial reason. After all this was organized the government pulled out and neglected to sing this land treaty. This is a great example of what the government has been doing to these people.

The Lubicon people have made there potion clear, they want what all the other tribes goth there own land reserve in witch they can keep there tradition and culture going on. The problem is that there land sits on oil, lots of oil. All these people can do is oppose further development and keep there voices up. They are just going to keep bugging the government until they give in and for fill these Lubicon peoples rights.

I personally feel like the lubicon people deserve a small portion of the land. If all the other tribes get a small land reserve these people deserve one to. The government needs to take responsibility and stop playing the silent game with these people. Negotiating is part of the reason the government is here. This is an very primitive conflict conflict,it can be easily solved. It will just take cooperation.

Secularism in France

In France the kids aren't allowed to go to school with religious symbols to school. If they do they may be expelled from school. I agree with this stand on religious symbols by the government of France. One reason is that it allows for less prejudgment. It allow for everyone not to have there clothes to be a disadvantage in games and sports. Last it gives kids a chance to were what they want not what they are forced to where.

Have you ever been walking in a city and seen someone wearing there turbine. Do thoughts like What if this guy is a terrorist." This occurs to me sometimes because I see the turbine and think of Afghanistan and the terrorist attacks that occur there often. This prejudgment can cause people to become violent. Its just like an animal being scared they normally become vicious and attack. I think we as humans have this trait. We can feel cornered by people that look threatening so we may strike out at them. When people cant were those clothes and symbols it takes that threatened feeling out of the flow.

When it comes to extra curricular activities like gym class kids wearing a robe aren't going to preform to there full potential. This is when traditional clothes get in the way. Everyone should be able to have a equal chance at being successful in what they do and when there clothes get in the way that becomes an unnecessary disadvantage. This disadvantage can cause kids not to be active and healthy because there clothes are not proper for being active.

Last thing is that kid are being forced to wear these religious symbols that get in the way and also cause them to miss out on friends. No one should have to where what they don't want to. the worlds clothing style is changing and kids should be able to change and keep up with the fashions so they fit in. kids deserve the right to choose what they want for themselves not what the parents want for them.

These are the reasons I believe that this law benefits everyone. I may seem to take freedom away but really it only adds freedom. It allows kids not to be forced to wear there religious clothing. It also give a freedom of less violence. This law is a great law that allows better living conditions for the whole public.

Thought on the 2010 Olympics

I am writing about an event that inspired that occurred me in the Vancouver 2010 Olympics. The men's Canadian curling team inspired me. They won the gold medal with a perfect 11-0 record. From my understanding this perfect record in curling at the Olympic games has not occurred in a long time or may have never happened. Keven Martian and his team really acted like a unified Canadian team. This represented Canadians as a unified group. This great victory gives me the chills and the pride that we produced these great athletes. GREAT JOB CANADA!!!!!

I think we should continue to fund our Canadian athletes because it gives all Canadians pride to be part of a successfully country. We become more unified and proud to sing the anthem a proud to say I AM CANADIAN. On the other side of things I think we should cut down a bit on the money so that we can fund things like health care.

Walmart's Position On Unions

In this essay I will discus how Wal-Mart reacts to the idea of unionizing. I will also get into how I think these thoughts and actions effect there commercial activities. First Wal-Mart shows that it wont tolerate the development of Unions in there company. Second I will look into if this affects the company strongly opposes unions. Last I will talk about how workers may feel about this policy of Wall-Mart. This policy of walmart definitely affect them as a company and us as people. Here I will discus how.

Walmart has proven it's discussed in unions through history. In fact the man who organized Wall-Mart said that he did not like unions and he wanted nothing to do with these unions. Wall-Mart's thoughts on Unions have not changed at all. They still don't support there workers unionizing in fact they fight it. In Jonquiere Quebec Wall-Mart workers decided they would become part of a union to improve there working condition. Within a couple months this Wall-Mart closed down. This proves they will not support there workers upon unionizing.

Not supporting Unions has affected the company Wall-Mart tonnes. It has lots of benefits and a lot of disabilities with it. One Benefiting thing is that having no unions allows the company to keep there price the lowest of any store. This would be hard to do if they had to pay there workers more. A disadvantage of this is that walmart may lose supporters of unions. People may not want to support such a company that doesn't give there workers very many freedoms. For the most part though this benefits Wall-Marts commercial activities more than it take away from them.

The last thing is that workers may see that there are no Unions allowed and this knowledge my drive these workers away. Without many workers walmart may have to go out of bisness or have to hirer people that are not great people. When thinking about hiring people it may not be the best advantage to not allow workers.

Wall mart to me does better than other companies at certain things because it does not allow it employees to be part of a union. But just like the different economies like market and command economies Wall mart has its disadvantages to. I personally don't support wall mart and there choices about Unions but it does not stop me from using the nearby wall mart.

Unions Pros And Cons

The best thing about a union is that they make sure the employees are receiving adequate wages. This helps keep minimum wage met, thus allowing people to keep their wages suitable to live on even if you are working a non skill job. This allows people to have the basic quality of life that everyone deserves. you can see that wages are not suitable in places that cant have Unions like China. In these countries people can get paid wages of 25 cents an hour or even lower. This shows us we need unions to keep proper wages and allow everyone to live with a good quality of life. This is probably the best thing a union can do for someone. If you need something to have that basic quality of life it has to be money. you need money to live in a house, buy food,

Another good thing is that unions keep up the quality of the workplace. If a worker is working somewhere and there is potentially dangerous equipment a Union can push push the company to spend more money and get proper safety equipment to cut down on injury. This definitely will benefit the workers because the prevention of injury will help them continue good health and keep working so that you can have enough money to live. This can also benefit the employer by allowing his workers to remain healthy and also the safe environment Will attract more workers. This benefit can help the employer to keep the company flowing with good and experienced workers.

The last positive aspect that I will write about is that Unions can prevent a company from putting people out of work because they don't want to pay them. In a teachers situation they get paid more every year. in Montana teacher teach for two years and than they don't get there contract renued. Teachers in Alberta are part of a teacher union that allows teachers to always get there contract renued as long as they teach properly and aren't abusive. This union protection is not there in Montana. This allows schools to hire a first year teacher and keep them at low pay for a couple years then when they get a big enough raise they lay them off. If a union was there they would keep those teachers in work for up to 50 years. This trait of a union helps the working body to have more security.

A negative aspect to Unions is that it can pressure the company so much that it will shut down. An example of this was shown at a Wall mart in Jonquiere Quebec Canada. This group of Wal-mart workers were the first to join a union. After joining this union the Wall mart company closed this Wall mart store down putting 190 people out of work. The Wall mart supposedly shut down because of money problems but many think the union pressured it to close down. Instead of helping people make adequate wages they caused the people to be out of work.

Another negative aspect of Unions is that they can cause someone to get fired because the company sees that person as a threat. This shows up in situations when a person is working a non skilled job. For example if someone was working at Mac Donald's and decides they aren't getting paid enough so they become part of a Union. The Union then begins to try and get this worker more money. Mac Donald's decides that they can find someone else that will flip burgers for a lower wage.

The last negative aspect is that unions can cost lots of money to be part of. They can suck money from your pockets and give less back. Unions can cause this financial damage and not help you. this can be called a scam. This is one thing that really worries me about unions.
I'm finished my online questions in the news letter.

A blog to the poeple of haiti

The thing that really makes me sad is that so many people lost everything homes, families, and friends. These people may not have had much but they lost the few things they did have. I would like to let the people from Haiti new that they have to have hope that the future will improve. If they keep hope I know they will make it through this challenge.

How I feel about being canadian

I am writing this essay on why I love to be a Canadian.first thing I love about being a Canadian is that we have a chance to do winter recreation and summer recreation activities.the second thing I love is we have more beautiful environment than many countries that don't take care of it as much. The third and last but definitely not least reason I love Canada is how us as Canadians come together as a county for major events and disasters.I am proud to be a Canadian for these three reasons and more.

I love that are country has a summer and winter. This season change allows us to do a wide variety recreational activities and sports. An example of some the activities is in the winter we do hockey, basketball, skiing, snowboarding and sometimes hunting. In the summer we do soccer volleyball fishing hunting and biking. I think this change in sports keeps us interested in recreation thus allowing Canada to do more active. this also keeps us as Canadians happy having fun watching different sports most the time.Thinking of sports Canadians have it lucky to pick from the many sports.

I love being part of a great Canadian environment and and taking in the great scenery it gives. I love going to the national parts and hiking. The government does a great job keeping the parks clean and healthy so we can enjoy nature. The great environment of Canada make me proud of how we keep up the environment. many places seem to destroy environment but to me Canada keeps up the environment very well. are great environment definitely attracts tourists which ultimately give Canada a good name this makes me proud of my country

Canadians are awesome for coming together to cheer for or helping people out of disasters. The biggest things that are bringing Canadians together to be unified is the Haiti earthquake and the 2010 winter Olympics in Vancouver Canada. I went to see the Olympic torch pass through Lethbrigde recently. I felt so unified with all the other Canadians that were there. I'm sure half of southern Alberta was there we came together as southern Albertan Canadians and the rest of the country doing the same. Also the country has come together by donating to massively to Haiti and spending by going down there and helping. These acts make me very proud to be part of a unified Canadian body.

These for me are great reasons to love being a Canadian it makes me proud. There are also many more things impress me about being a Canadian. I will also try and model myself after the good attributes of being Canadian. I'm sure proud and happy to have the title of Canadian. its the best title in the world to me.
